Ingredients
3 Cups bread flour (all purpose will work as well. DO NOT use self rising flour!)
2 Tsp salt (I used Kosher salt, but you do you)
2 Tbsp sugar
1.5 Cups whole milk
3 Large eggs
2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil (though virgin or regular olive oil will work fine)
Instructions
- Turn on oven to 450 degrees.
- Place dry ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix well.
- Place eggs in a separate mixing bowl and beat well. Add the rest of the wet ingredients to the eggs and mix well.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and beat with an electric mixer until well combined. Be sure to scrape down the sides during mixing.
- Grease an 11×15 pan with butter, olive oil, or cooking spray. Transfer the batter into the pan and even out the mix as best you can, even to the edges.
- Bake at 450 degrees for about 20 minutes until the top is lightly browned and slightly bubbly.
Adaptations
This bread is great on it’s own, but also for transforming into something even better. Try adding some Italian Herb mix on top of the cooked bread. Who doesn’t like Italian Herbs? Simply coat the top with olive oil, shake your Italian Herbs on top, and place it back in the oven for a few minutes.
Cheese always makes things great as well. Sprinkle some mozzarella, grated parmesan, and maybe even some romano on top of the cooked bread and place it back in the oven just until the cheese is melted and maybe even a little browned (if you like that sort of thing. hint: I do!)
Want something else that even the kids will love? Take your cooked bread, brush the top with melted butter, and shake on some cinnamon and sugar mix. This’ll work as-is but gets even better if you pop it back in the oven for a few minutes.
